I am absolutely blown away by this level of synthesis; the level of sophistication is amazing.

Have you heard of the Vocloid singer, Hatsune Miku? It's hard to tell how accurately it sounds like a human voice because it features electronic effects on the voice like a lot of pop music. Pretty cool, though! Here's a video on "her".
